Religious artefacts, awe-inspiring ancient ruins and cities steeped in century-old history – discover some of the most fascinating secrets of Puglia. You’ll be staying at the wonderfully rustic four star UNA Hotel Regina, located just a ten minute drive from the cuty centre of Bari and a five minute drive from the clear seas and sandy beaches of Torre a Mare.
Day 1 Fly from Dublin to Bari
On arrival to Bari airport, direct from Dublin, you will be met at the airport by a Topflight representative and transferred by coach to your base for the next seven nights, the beautifully rustic four star, UNA Hotel Regina Valley, in Noicattaro, 14km from Bari city.
Day2 At your leisure
Perhaps you’d like to enjoy exploring Bari’s historic centre, located just 15 minutes’ drive from your hotel. Enjoy a long and leisurely lunch in one of the many restaurants dotted throughout the historic centre, before wandering its narrow streets and quaint piazzas. A top attraction in Bari is the 11th century Church of Saint Nicolas. Pay it a visit to see its fantastic façade and beautiful interiors.
Day3 San Giovanni Rotondo
Fact: the Shrine of Padre Pio is the second-most visited Catholic shrine in the world. And you’ll be going to visit it today! San Giovanni Rotondo, the home of Padre Pio, is filled with fascinating religious buildings and monuments, and is a joy to wander through. You will also have some free time during the day to enjoy lunch in one of San Giovanni’s eateries.
Day4 At your leisure
Enjoy a well-earned rest at your hotel! While away a few blissful hours at the hotel’s Regina Spa, which boasts a whirlpool, sauna, Turkish bath and more!
After a hearty breakfast, you will take your transfer to the exceptional town of Matero. This ancient gem is one of the most interesting, unusual and memorable Italian towns you will ever visit. Famous for its incredible see-them-to-believe-them cave-dwellings, the town is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Don’t forget to bring your camera!
Day6 Polignano a Mare & Monopoli
Ice-cream, you scream… you will definitely be screaming for ice-cream today! Polignano is famous throughout the world for its outstanding gelato. Don’t leave town without picking one up! It’s not just the ice-cream that will have you wanting more, however, it’s the glorious town itself. Located on top of limestone cliffs, overlooking the ocean, this historic old town is a beautiful labyrinth of narrow roads and alleys, lined with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants for you to peruse! After lunch, we visit Monopoli, a beautiful town, overlooking the Adriatic, with its famous castle and enchanting castle.
Day7 At your leisure
Today you have another day to unwind and do whatever you so please.
Day8 Return home
After breakfast, check out, and jump on your transfer back to Bari airport, where you will board your plane home to Dublin.
