Day 1 Ireland - Cape Town
Day 2 Arrive Cape Town Upon arrival in Cape Town you are transferred to your hotel with the rest of the day at leisure for you to explore the city or the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. Hotel: Protea Hotel President (3 nights)
Day 3 Cape Town (Cape Peninsula) A full day touring of the ruggedly beautiful Cape Peninsula, the spectacular southern tip of Africa. We drive past Camps Bay, Clifton and Llandudno to Hout Bay where we will stop at the scenic harbour. An optional cruise to Seal Island is available to watch the antics of these natural performers. We continue along Chapman's Peak Drive to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. This afternoon we travel to the naval port of Simon's Town and visit the wonderful penguin colony at Boulders Beach, before returning to Cape Town in the early evening. (BB)
Day 4 Cape Town (Winelands) This morning we depart on our full day tour of the Winelands to indulge in the splendours of Africa's premier wine region. Experience fabulous vistas from the Taal Monument near Paarl, enjoy a cellar tour and see the Huguenot Monument in Franschhoek, (a gourmet's paradise). In the afternoon we drive through the Helshoogte mountain pass to Stellenbosch for a stroll through this stunning town and wine tasting at two estates, before returning to Cape Town in the early evening. (BB)
Day 5 Cape Town - Oudtshoorn We leave Cape Town and travel via the town of Montagu on 'Route 62', (South Africa's version of America's famous 'Route 66'), to the pretty village of Barrydale. We continue on to Oudtshoorn, known as the 'feather capital of the world' thanks to its huge ostrich industry. After a fascinating tour of an ostrich farm, we continue to our Oudtshoorn hotel for check in and overnight. (BB) Hotel: Oudtshoorn Inn
Day 6 Oudtshoorn - Knysna This morning go underground to marvel at the icy formations in the Cango Caves, regarded, for good reason, as one of South Africa's most spectacular natural wonders. We then drive via the spectacular Outeniqua Pass to the town of George, and then onto Knysna, perhaps South Africa's most visually stunning resort, in the heart of the famous Garden Route. Spend the rest of the day discovering the joys of the town's many art galleries, craft shops and coffee bars. (BB D) Hotel: Knysna Hollow Hotel (2 nights)
Day 7 Knysna Today we cruise on the vast Knysna Lagoon and then visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve. We enjoy an amazing view of the imposing sandstone 'Heads' which guard the sea entrance to Knysna's huge tidal lagoon, and the forests, marshes and pristine beaches surrounding it. After lunch spend the rest of the day at leisure, enjoying this lovely and special town. (BB L)
Day 8 Knysna - Kariega Game Reserve We depart Knysna this morning, by way of the glorious indigenous Tsitsikamma Forest to arrive in Port Elizabeth mid afternoon. We are then transferred to Kariega Game Reserve where we enjoy a wonderful dinner served under the African stars. (BB D) Hotel: Kariega Game Reserve - Main Lodge (2 nights)
Day 9 Kariega Game Reserve We recommend that you enjoy an early morning and afternoon safari as the animals are most active during this time. Experience close encounters with the 'Big Five' and numerous other smaller animal, bird and reptile species in open safari vehicles. The second largest of South Africa's nine provinces, the diverse Eastern Cape landscape ranges from the dry desolate Great Karoo to the steamy forests of the Wild Coast and the Keisamma Valley. We dine again tonight at our lodge. (BB L D)
Day 10 Kariega Game Reserve - Depart Port Elizabeth This morning after your game drive (time permitting) and breakfast, you will be transferred back to Port Elizabeth Airport for your onward flight. (BB)
