Barbados has some 60 miles of beach protected by coral reefs, thus making it ideal for watersports. The best beaches are located on the tranquil west coast where in fact most of the hotels are situated. The capital, Bridgetown, has a beautiful setting on Carlisle Bay, the island’s only natural harbour.Along the southwestern coast about nine miles from Bridgetown, there’s a cluster of small towns with excellent beaches, the liveliest being St. Lawrence. The warm climate offered all year round coupled with the miles of sandy beaches makes for an idyllic holiday destination.
